Expand Your Horizons with eLearning

There's a new method for delivering education and training - it's called eLearning. If you're like most people, chances are you are at least comfortable using a computer, if not computer savvy. So, when it comes time to take a class, why not take advantage of your computer experience and participate in eLearning, classes that use computers, the Internet, and /or CD ROMs.

One great example of using eLearning is to learn another language. Many colleges offer online education programs to help students learn how to speak a foreign language. In fact, quite often you don't even need to enroll in a college - you can get much of your eLearning materials simply by purchasing a computer-based training program.

When you purchase a language class off the shelf, you'll usually get a CD ROM that includes a language dictionary, a variety of resources, audio clips of the language being spoken. It's a great way to take a foreign language class without ever having to enroll.

The only thing that's missing in this type of eLearning is interaction with people that speak the foreign language. However, you can still participate in distance learning with a foreign language, and get your practical experience with conversational language.

Simply enroll in a community college that offers distance learning foreign language classes. You'll get many of the same materials that you would with an off-the-shelf language package - a dictionary, audio clips, etc., but you'll also have an opportunity to participate in language labs, where you can practice your conversational skills.

When you take eLearning classes, you can learn a new language or a new skill. Who knows, maybe you can even apply your eLearning skills and visit a foreign country - your prospects are endless.
